Nigerian Police Cyber crime Unit operatives and Interpol National
Central Bureau in Nigeria’s FCT Abuja have taken three suspects into custody for
internet related crimes including advance fee fraud, money laundering and
romance scam. The arrested are 30 year old Samson Inegbenesun, 32 year old Blessed
Junior and 36 year old Muhammed Zakari all male residents of Uromi in Edo State.

The arrest of the suspects followed ongoing investigations into alleged fraudulent online procurement and supply of COVID-19 protective mask, obtained through the INTERPOL NCB Wiesbaden, Germany. The police have recovered property and monetary assets totally millions of Naira from the suspects. An A retired American woman from Washington DC, USA has also been rescued by the police in a Lagos hotel where she was allegedly held against her wish for over a year.
Nigerian police say the suspects would be charged to court upon
the conclusion of their investigation in accordance with Nigeria’s Cybercrime
Prevention/Prohibition Act, 2015.
